My journey in medicine began more than a decade ago as a registered nurse. I spent years caring for patients on telemetry units and in mother-baby nursing, where I had the privilege of walking alongside people during both some of their hardest days and some of their happiest moments.
Working in the hospital gave me a front-row seat to chronic disease. Day after day, I cared for patients living with heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and preventable health conditions. One thing that always stayed with me was the disconnect between what we knew about health and what patients were often served while they were trying to heal.
Those experiences and questions led me to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and create a practice that looks beyond symptoms and focuses on the whole person.
